Case Studies - Hugo Camionnette Cafe

Hugo is an original Citroen H Van, born in France and is over 30 years old. The vans were developed as a simple front wheel driven van after World War II with a total of 473,289 produced in 34 years in factories in France and Belgium.
Retaining his Gallic charm, Hugo has now been converted into a fully operational Catering van. The name Camionnette Café comes from the French word meaning van, so literally, Hugo the van Café. An iconic presence deserves an eye catching alfresco area. Selecting black Valant Commercial Planters with red cafe banners, the area achieved just that.

Canvas Cafe Barrier Material

Using Xtracs stainless steel wall clips attached to of the each planters, heavy duty cross beams were used to suspend the canvas banners. These, together, created a continuous run of planters and cafe banners to cordon off the desired area. The planters have an incorporated plastic insert which ensures the timber internally stays dry and can remain in the same position. (Internal planter 400mm x 400mm x 330mm)

Canvas Cafe Barrier Material

Deciding to plant easily maintained mini conifer trees in each of the planters ensured that the hardy plants would stand the rigours of the yorkshire weather. Located conveniently on the main precinct, opposite the Refectory, means the cafe is open to the elements and the planters would be susceptible to all types of downfall. It was therefore important that the planter was coated several times to ensure that the products would last. For more information on the finishes click here.
